Alstroemeria & Snapdragons on Burlap

My Florida home is light and bright with coastal elements. Every fall I am faced with decorating for autumn using my colors. I use more textures, tans, and browns. I add deeper toned colors as the season progresses. I look for softer shades of typical fall colors like peach. I also love using turquoise in the fall with tans and browns. l usually add more texture and natural elements.

For the dining table today, I added a burlap runner on the dark wooden table with a jar of flowers. I made a bouquet from snapdragons from a friend’s yard and purchased alstroemeria. I placed them in a jar of water on my burlap table runner. No, they aren’t what you would think of as autumn flowers like mums, but I like the soft colors with the texture of burlap. Orange doesn’t really go with my color scheme.

Temperatures here in September are in the high 80’s F, like 88 F, with a low of mid 70’s F. Few deciduous trees have colorful leaves of fall here in central Florida. Most Florida trees do not loose their leaves at all. Those that do are not bright and beautiful. What I enjoy is the gradual cooling of temperatures. By October and November, the average high is lower, and skies are blue. In October and November, I add pine cones and other natural elements which are plentiful in many neighborhoods.

  1. Hi Carol, I’m back again as I thought I would write my comment here to you also. This is what I said to your reply on my blog.

So kind of you to let me know Carol. Thank you very much! Some blogging friends have anti-virus programs that may pick up on the links I provide in my posts, as a security warning. The sites I use are all safe. I go back to them all the time and have never had a problem. They provide me with useful information on various things I have written about in my post. It cropped up a few years ago but I didn’t realize this was still going on, but the bottom line is I don’t know what to do about it. I just love those links so much as it gives me a refresher course on things I have learned about. Thanks again for letting me know and trusting me enough to keep coming back. I appreciate that than mere words can say.

  2. What beautiful flowers, Carol! I like tan and turquoise together as well for autumn – it sounds like we have very similar taste in colours! Thank you for sharing with the Hearth and Soul community.

  3. I love cut flowers in the home, they are so cheerful. Your display is beautiful Carol and I love the addition of the burlap runner.

    Have a lovely week. 🙂

I love to make new friends and get to know you.
